We're off to Uganda with Wings Birdwatching Tours. Their checklist includes a possible 614 birds, 44 mammals, including 11 primates, and 6 reptiles/amphibians, so it should be an exhausting, but very interesting 16 days! We fly out of LAX on Wednesday morning to Minneapolis and then to Amsterdam. We'll spend the night there and on Friday, we'll fly to Entebbe, and meet our group.
One of the highlights of this trip is the chance to spend some time up close with a troop of Eastern Mountain Gorillas (Gorilla gorilla beringei) in the forest! As some of you know, I fell while hiking in the Santa Barbara foothills in early May - trying to get in shape for this trip (!) - resulting in a gash in my leg which required a skin graft.

Anyway, if you'd like to come along, you can sign up with the gadget "follow by email" at the top right, or, if you prefer, you can email me and I will email the blog back to you as I come across wifi that's strong enough!
